Synopsis:
Gypsy Moth, written by Kelley Girod, is a 20 minute drama that seeks to illuminate the often violent transition from youth to adulthood, especially for young girls crossing over into womanhood in a world where the issues facing women and the pressures of society have changed little throughout history. Kelley uses the highly poetic and lyrical language of the piece to blur the lines between reality and fiction, beauty and savagery, love, sex
and obsession, and what the girls consider right and wrong in order to render an accurate depiction of the confusion and consequences that accompany an adolescent’s journey into a realm where everything they know to be true about their lives and their identity is suddenly thrown into question as they face the chilling realities of life.
